Richfield Expands Summer Development
Mining, North Central, Quesnel Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010Richfield Ventures is not like any typical mining company doing work in Northern British Columbia. With local citizens managing the company, Richfield is sensitive to the region’s single-resource economy and wants to be a catalyst in bringing the area forward economically.
Peter Bernier is President and CEO of Richfield Ventures. As such, a large part of his job is to make sure that the Richfield Ventures name is out there in positive light.
Dealing with suppliers, shareholders, brokers and employees and stock brokers has become easier since Richfield originally opened it’s Quesnel office. “Most of our initial investment came from the area,” explains Bernier. “So, opening a store front here just makes sense. It’s elevated Richfield Ventures profile in the community and it helps Quesnel demonstrate to other mining operations that the community is open for business. Then again, I’ve lived here for 11 years so maybe I’m a little biased,” he offers with a wink.
Richfield Ventures, currently employs twelve people in the Quesnel area and expects to increase to twenty as drilling activities steps-up over the summer – Richfield plans to spend over $6 million over the summer drilling 70 holes for gold in the area. “When we hit gold on 17 of 18 holes last year, our investor-base changed and we were able to attract more established institutional investors. Today, many major banks have invested in Richfield Ventures so you may already own part of Richfield Ventures indirectly through your portfolio of mutual funds.”
Bernier appears very clear on his company’s role. “Richfield Ventures is an exploration company. We like to find gold and then hand it off to someone else to develop. As for Quesnel, we’ll be here for the long run.” With an eye on the future and the opportunities that are in the area, Richfield Ventures should continue to play an important part of Northern British Columbia.
