International Companies flock to Prince George for International Bio Energy Conference
Alternative Energy, North Central, North Coast, North East, North West, Prince George Wednesday, June 9th, 2010The 4th International BioEnergy Conference and Exhibition, co-hosted by the BC Bioenergy Network, has attracted delegates from across North American and Europe. The two day event has provided Prince George with a great opportunity to showcase the economic potential of Northern British Columbia.
Northern BC Business.com attended the show this week and we’re impressed with the turn out of delegates which included Dutch-based Peterson Control Union Group (PCU), a logistics, quality certification and risk management specialist with operations world-wide. “We are here to meet with wood pellet producers,” stated PCU’s Bas Verkerk “We’ve worked with a number of pellet plants in the area,” said Verkerk and “we’re able to assist others in their development.”
Sadly, according to Natural Resources Canada, 80% of the mature lodgepole pine in British Columbia will be dead by 2013. However we we’re excited to see how many outside firms see opportunity in the waste wood that is accumulating. “We have expertise that has allowed us to be a world leader and we are interested in sharing this with the people of Canada”, added Dietmar Habacher, Vice Consul and Deputy Trade Commissioner for Austria.
